Welcome to Global Azure Bootcamp! All around the world, user groups and communities want to learn about Azure and Cloud Computing.
On April 21, 2018, tech communities world-wide will come together once again in the sixth great Global Azure Bootcamp event!
In Dublin, we are organising the biggest community lead event yet, with multiple tracks and in-depth workshops during the day. Bootcamps are happening on the same day all over the world - come to Dublin and join in - please share your experience under the social hashtag #GlobalAzure!
It is important to point out, that while this event is *about* Azure, it is *not* a commercial event. Azure bootcamp Dublin is organised by the local MVP tech commmunity - we are here to share our knowledge, not sell anything.
The majority of the speakers at this years event are Microsoft 'Most Valued Professionals' (MVP) - experts in technology that Microsoft has recognised as community leaders outstanding in their field. You can find out more at the MVP Award Website.
The bootcamp has a number of tracks. Look for the color-code beside the sessions to find your area of choice! We also have some really fasinating parallel hands-on workshops, on the fly chalk-talks, ligntning talks, and live "lab training" thanks to Jonathan in Opsgility, and hands-on experience with Mixed Reality with Hololens and Room-scale Virtual Reality. Speaking of lunch - you won't go hungry! ... Microsoft are very kindly providing not only the premises for the event, but will also be feeding us for the day. The event location is the shiny new Microsoft offices in Sandyford ... seemingly one of the best new tech spaces in Dublin, so worth coming to have a nose around!
So! ... please join us to learn, ask questions and talk to new friends you just havn't met yet :)
Time: 09:00 - 09:20

Azure Event Grid is a set of connected technologies provided by Microsoft as part of their Azure cloud which are designed to facilitate an event-driven architecture. CQRS is an application design pattern (or architecture) that differs from single model architectures (like MVC or MVVM) in that the parts of the system responsible for changing the state of the system (the Command side) is entirely separate to the parts of the system responsible for getting the state of the system (the Query side). Event Sourcing is a data architecture that flips the way we store data on its head. Instead of storing the state of any given object as it currently is and updating that state we instead store the complete history of every change that has occurred to the object and allows us to derive the state of the object by running code known as a projection over that event history. In this presentation I will demonstrate what these are and how you can use these three together to build a distributed system.

Does it matter how we build an app as long as it works? Well, if we're using the cloud for hosting, maybe even microservices, some of the new "web scale" databases, rely on third-party services, there are few things to keep in mind to avoid 2AM app-is-down phonecall! Let's explore some patterns, practices and technologies and see how we can make our apps work faster, more resilient and reliable!

Cloud adoption is creating new business opportunities across the IT sector. In this talk, we’ll focus on the opportunity for Managed Service Providers to grow their business by developing a practice migrating existing workloads to the Cloud, and managing those workloads in the Cloud. We’ll start by discussing the business opportunity, including Microsoft incentive programs and ways you can differentiate your offerings and create additional business value. We’ll also look at the technical process of implementing a Cloud migration project, starting from migration assessment, and looking at both lift-and-shift migration to Azure infrastructure services as well as application modernization to Azure platform services.

We have stories to share. We’ll cover:
Imagine you could just write code and have it run without needing to worry about VMs, containers or any other infrastructure. Then imagine that it automatically scaled to any size to match demand, but you only paid for exactly what you used. Now imagine connecting a database that could handle graph data, key-value storage, schemaless documents and SQL queries with blazing perfomance at massive scale across the globe while still only paying for the storage used and throughput needed. Well, let's give it a try and see what happens ...
